WHAT DOES IT INVOLVE?
This research started in a boulder beach in Oia (southern Pontevedra province). For this work, RFID sensors were employed to know the boulder movement dynamics.

RFID sensors (Radio Frequency Identification) allow to monitoring elements in any moment since their colocation and these are a key tool for analyzing the changes.
In Oia, 80 sensors were installed in lines of 5 elements perpendicular to shoreline during September 2016. At the moment, we are doing revisitings at the study zone for located again the boulders and know their movement vectors. For the moment we are remain monitoring more than 80% of sensors and the largest displacements exceed 20 meters.

The beach shape can change a lot in a short time period, shore platform could be completely covered by boulders in certain moments.
